The instrument panel is a crucial component of the vehicle interior, integrating safety, functionality, comfort, and decorative features.

The instrument panel is a key safety feature in a vehicle, providing some impact resistance during a collision and possessing excellent energy absorption properties. Airbags are housed within the instrument panel, enabling timely deployment in the event of a collision to protect passengers. The instrument panel also serves as a crucial storage device, featuring armrests, storage boxes, cup holders, and other features to meet the driver and passengers' daily needs. The instrument panel is the area most directly interacted with by the driver and passengers, and its design prioritizes ease of use and comfort. Multimedia buttons are typically located on the instrument panel for convenient daily use. To satisfy aesthetic tastes, various layout options and decorative elements are considered during the initial design phase of the instrument panel. Individual decorative elements are designed to enhance the overall sense of depth and technology within the vehicle interior. Decorative materials can be categorized as solid wood, genuine leather, imitation leather, or fabric. The selection of decorative elements is determined based on the vehicle's positioning and potential customer needs.

Three design schemes for the dashboard of current mainstream models.

⒈ Traditional mechanical instrument panels emphasize functionality and simplicity, lacking complex controls. They typically contain only the essential driving controls, with switches controlled by traditional push and turn methods. While their advantages include a simple layout, ease of operation, and durability, they lack a sense of technology and can easily cause visual fatigue.

⒉ The dual-screen instrument panel design is a popular design language at present. The through-type large screen can display driving information, entertainment information, etc. This design improves the integrity and coordination of the instrument panel and greatly improves the interior texture.

⒊ The floating instrument panel, a design concept first introduced by Tesla, integrates driving information and control buttons into a large central control screen, using touchscreen controls instead of traditional physical buttons. This design exudes a sense of technology while minimizing other decorative elements on the instrument panel, resulting in a more concise and elegant design.

Currently, dashboard trim panels are mainly made of fabric, leather, PVC, PU, and solid wood. Solid wood and leather trim are mainly used in luxury models, which are expensive and difficult to process. Most dashboard trim panels on mainstream models are made of PVC or PU. The PVC/PU surface also has various problems during the composite process. If these problems are not solved in a timely manner, the qualified rate of parts will be seriously affected, resulting in huge waste.

If wrinkles occur on the air conditioner control panel, this could be due to uneven stress on the PU skin during the wrapping process, causing wrinkles at the corners. This problem can be effectively resolved by cutting the PU skin separately at sharp corners and optimizing the wrapping sequence. Wrapping the sharp corners first and using specialized equipment to heat and cure them. This ensures more even stress at the corners, increases the duration of stress, and minimizes localized uneven stress.
